Annual Christmas Bazaar

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Wakefield Museum Annual Christmas Bazaar in December.

Tis the Season for Holiday Cheer. Come join the fun at the Wakefield Museum's 28th Annual Christmas Bazaar, December 7, 2019, 9 am to 4 pm, 604 6th St., Wakefield, KS. The admission is Free! The holiday spirit will be in full swing when the doors open at 9 am. Bring your shopping list and enjoy the festive atmosphere while you browse in the craft section for that special gift. Items include home decor, kitchen items such as towels, potholders, scrubbies, cookbooks, etc., baby quilts, cloth books, etc., Christmas ornaments and wall hangings, and much, much more. Do you have company coming for the holidays? Treat them to some of the homemade goodies made by the talented cooks from the Wakefield area. Make a selection from the wide assortment of baked goods, candies and snacks available in the Rau Wing. Continue your shopping experience as you search through the many items in the white elephant area in the lower level of the Museum. Make a stop at the cafe in the Berner lower level and enjoy a homemade cinnamon roll and a free cup of coffee. Stay for lunch and partake of a bowl of homemade soup and a slice of homemade pie or dessert. Take out is available and container will be provided. Be sure to take time to enjoy the holiday music that will be provided throughout the day by several musicians with a "Wakefield Connection". Door prizes for adults and children will be awarded every hour on the hour. The drawing for the 2019 raffle items will be at 4 pm. You need not be present to win for any of the drawings. Special displays will be set up for a limited time for your enjoyment. These include items from the 1969 Time Capsule. Another display will be a Heritage Christmas Tree adorned with blocks from an 1892 Junior Auxiliary Friendship Quilt that includes more than 150 names. Some of the family names discovered on these blocks are Adams, Alsop, Avery, Bachelor, Beals, Billingham, Bower, Brown, Bryant, Buchall, Carpenter, DeYoung, Dodson, Ellenwood, Fenton, Gaston Gates, Gratten, Hamilton, Harrison, Hewitt, Insley, Jevons, Jones, Kerby, Kregar, Livengood, Male, McNeil, Marshall, Mason, Moyer, Myers, Pocock, Randall, Rankin, Roscoe, Seimers, Sparrowhawk, Streeter, Towle, Walter, Woerner, to name a few. Stop by and search for your relatives block. Last year the family of the late For a Alsop graciously donated a number of her paintings to be offered for purchase, with all proceeds going to the Museum. There are a limited number of paintings still available. Come and enjoy the day and visit with friends and family before the holiday rush.
